Dance with Margot

Music for Ballet Class

About Margot

Margot started playing the piano at 7 years old and the clarinet at the age of 16. On leaving school she continued her music studies at the Royal College of Music in London where she achieved the ARCM diploma in piano. After graduating Margot began her career in the world of dance at the Royal Academy of Dance where she gained invaluable experience playing for ballet classes and exams for both children and students. This led to gaining the position of Company Pianist with Northern Ballet Theatre, followed by 19 years as Principal Pianist with the Frankfurt Ballet in Germany.

Margot accompanied the company’s daily ballet class followed by rehearsals and as solo pianist for many ballet performances in opera houses all over the world. These include the Paris Opera, Sadler’s Wells, Monte Carlo, Munich Opera and San Francisco to name a few!

Margot has had particular success and great pleasure in performing the music of William Forsythe’s acclaimed ballet, “Artifact” for several companies. She continues to be Music Advisor on this ballet and to coach other pianists in the playing of such a magnificent work.
